Baby Photographer Chicago
You all know how much I love my job as a baby photographer in Chicago…I love a great baby photo session at my Chicago studio! Beautiful baby Milania was so much fun at her one year photo session. Her first birthday is a special day, and we wanted to show her special personality! A professional first birthday photo shoot is so fun to look back on as baby grows up, to remember all the cute faces, smiles, and personality of your baby!
When to schedule a baby session
Usually, it is suggested, after a newborn photo session, you wait until around the 5/6 month old mark. At this point, baby is sitting up, and if not, can sit unassisted in a bucket or basket provided at the studio. Babies do better if they’ve had so rest and are well fed. It is not suggested to book a session right before nap time or meal time. Some families come to see me for a newborn photo shoot, then for a six month session in studio, and then we meet again for a family session outdoors. This way, you are capturing baby’s growing moments, in different settings and styles.
Preparation before the client comes
I love getting my Chicago studio nice and cozy, before my clients arrive. I have everything on display for my clients to choose from, including outfits, props, headbands, wraps, accessories, and backdrops. This way, if there is something that I didn’t pull out to use for a session, but if my clients want incorporated, we can add it to the session. Our Chicago photography studio will have snacks and coffee for our clients, so that once they arrive, they can relax, while waiting for photos to be taken.
First, we started with featuring Milania in her adorable one year old birthday dress, in this simple, rustic setting. Mom really liked this backdrop, flooring and blanket, so we took quite a few photos here. This was an outfit that Mom brought from home. I do offer outfits, headbands, and accessories at all my studio sessions. When bringing in something special, like this outfit, to a session, it makes the session a bit personalized to fit your style.
I had to feature some black and white from this baby photo shoot. Black and white is such a timeless and classic look. I love how the “one” on her dress stands out in this photo. Creating memorable images, while keeping things simple, classic, with a touch of the rustic feel, captures timeless memories for the entire family to look back on.
Next, we had to have Milania in this adorable outfit (that is complimentary to use at my studio for your session), and a bucket of flowers. We are feeling spring in the studio! And, there couldn’t be a cuter model for this outfit and prop set up! Winter has been actually not terrible here in Chicago, but the feeling of spring freshness is always welcome!
Here is Milania, taking a moment to stop and look at the flowers…which lead me to get that awesome profile shot! She looks so natural here, looking at the basket, and in black and white, it can’t be any more cute! One thing I try and do at every photo session is to really get in close and capture those little features, like Milania’s eyelashes here. These tiny features don’t stay tiny forever, so it’s something to look back on for years to come.
This chair is my all time favorite prop to use with a baby photo session. Sweet Milania is modeling another outfit that is complimentary at my baby photography studio in Chicago. Those vintage, rustic props are something that families around the Chicagoland area come to me for! I love a natural background, something that could be hung or presented in any home.
She is feeling like such a big girl, standing with Mom’s help! I love getting Mom and Dad (and siblings) in photos with my babies. It’s always so fun to look back at these moments, and including the family in these moments. This moment was not posed, it was extremely authentic. Milania wanted to walk around and show off her new big girl walking skills, so we let her! I just snapped a photo, capturing Mom in the moment, as well!
Lastly, we got Milania standing up on her own, for some last smiles to wrap up the baby session! This is one of my all time favorite outfits, from My Darling Emma, one of my absolute favorite vendors! I love their style, their selection, and the quality! I find it really important to provide the use of these outfits and headbands for my clients, to really create that vintage, rustic feel that everyone wants when they come to my Chicago studio!
